This Website I gave up having my own website awhile ago because it was too much of a hassle to manage and maintain, and I wasn't getting much traffic. I'm not really good at that kind of thing anyways, and I thought it would be easier to simply put my artwork on forums or at art galleries like DeviantArt or Fanart Central, and they usually get more views that way because people are always around at places that popular. But I was browsing on the Newgrounds forum one day, when I noticed someone had posted a thread, offering free hosting for flash artists and other authors. At the time, I was just starting out with making flash animations. I mean I wasn't new to it because I've used it to make web designs in the past, but I didn't exactly get along well with Flash MX to begin with, which is why I stopped using it. I decided to give Flash another chance, and began making a flash animation around that time, and so I thought that if my flash or artwork is good enough, I might even be accepted by that host. I figured it wouldn't hurt to have my artwork being hosted by someone who's willing to offer limited hosting to dedicated and profficient artists, so I signed up and got accepted. I was considering making this website in flash, except that I'm not experienced enough to know how to do that, especially considering there was a lot more I wanted to do with that. But unfortunately, I didn't have the time to learn about it and fix all the problems, when people might be getting impatient for me to have the gallery and main content launched. So instead, I used a simpler design that is much closer to the designs that most individual artists use in their own galleries, and it's much easier to manage and navigate. This website was created using Mac OSX, using mostly Photoshop CS for the graphics, Textedit for HTML, and I tested it on Safari, but it should work just fine for Firefox and other similar browsers. Screw IE if it doesn't work. The artwork was created using Photoshop CS and/or Corel Painter 8 with a Wacom Intuos 2 tablet on my iBook. (I should get a new computer soon; 128MB of RAM!). Most images take me about 6-8 hours to complete, if I were to do them non-stop, and the Graphite pieces probably take around 4-6 hours.

231st Anniversarius Dedicatur Carolo Frederico Gauss This was the 231st anniversary dedication to one of the three greatest mathematicians in history, Karl Friedrich Gauss on his birthday, April 30, 1777. In commemoration of such a great mathematician, I changed the layout and drew some pictures of him ([1] [2]), made a Mac OS X Tiger widget, and wrote a dedication here. In addition, you may notice that the layout contains a 17-sided regular polygon, which Gauss first discovered how to create using only a ruler and a compass. The titles also contain the standard deviation curve, which is also attributed to Gauss. The background image in the menu bar at the top is taken from a page of his work on calculus. The handwriting of "Gauss" in the menu bar is also a scan of a signature that Gauss wrote himself. Click here to see the layout.
Banners (If you used the Interactive banner feature explained in the Links section, you would have seen these on the 30th):
Myself I am a university student currently studying mathematics, and have a keen interest in that subject as well (for those who care, I am most specifically fond of calculus). I also engage myself in religious debate on forums occasionally, and draw whenever new ideas pop into my head, or write/rant about occasional topics when they bother me. I rarely ever talk about myself in blogs or on my website (except for this section) because I don't think a lot of people care that much about the stuff that goes on in my life unless you are either one of my immediate family members or close friends, in which case you already know what's happening to me. I also enjoy other hobbies including rollerblading and playing video games. I like watching and reading comedy or satire movies and books, and my favorite TV show is the Simpsons. There aren't a lot of anime that I like reading or watching; some of them are okay, but the only one I've really ever liked is Death Note. I have been drawing ever since I could walk, and have enjoyed doing so up until today. I eventually learned to color scanned drawings on the computer and began learning techniques for CGing and digital painting on my own, which lead to my getting a tablet. I used resources like tutorials on the Internet and looked at other people's artwork to learn and get better. I have been improving for the last few years, and will probably continue to get better at it. Along my artistic journey, I've also experimented with ambidexterity out of curiosity. I can't quite draw as well with my left hand as I can with my dominant hand, but I can write with it. I've also gotten it to writing with both hands at the same time. I also know of a friend who can do the same thing, except she can also read and write backwards. Cool, huh? |
